A one-day winter

An eighty-degree day yesterday.  Today in the fifties.  Tomorrow, back to the eighties.  Sometimes cold fronts slide through one day, then pop right back up going the other direction the next day as warm fronts.

It’s January.  Time to do the annual pruning on all the bushes and small trees to get them all in shape for next spring.  Cut them way back while they’re in their most dormant state.  Well, maybe the crape myrtle could be called dormant,

… but hard to assign the same distinction to the Texas Firebush.

Or the flowers.

Or the thicket.

Or the other shrubbery.

Maybe late January will be best for the trim.  At some point though, dormant or not, they’re all going to get cut back down to size.
