Blackbirds

 Looked outside this afternoon to find a very large flock of red-winged blackbirds in the field.

 

It was a constantly moving swarm, with birds from the rear flying forward to be on the leading edge of whichever direction the flock was moving on the  ground. 

When it was time to take off, they didn’t all go at once.

 

They formed a river that flowed over us.
