A
powerful country launches an unprovoked attack on a smaller neighbor. We
help the country under siege protect itself and survive, but don’t help enough
to actually stop the attack. We have to be so careful as to not
“escalate” the situation. We don’t want to antagonize the aggressor, the
one who is effecting the unprovoked attack in the first place.
If
these were two kids on the street, what would a responsible person do?
Sit and watch for a year while the bully kid pummels the little one, and cheer
the little kid for showing such resolve? I’m not saying we should attack
Russia. I don’t know the real solution. But it sure feels weird
watching one kid beat up another, unprovoked, for a year.
