Remember three days ago?

We spent the night right outside of Kerrville.  We walked along the Guadalupe River.  It’s one of the most charming scenic places a person can be.

Last night, that area of Texas got an entire summer’s worth of rain in one day.  Our friends who live there are not in a low-lying area.  It’s not even flat, it’s in Hill Country.  We’ve talked to them today.  They went to bed last night at midnight with a little sprinkling of rain.  At 5am they were rescued by boat.  The water had receded enough they were back in their house today, but with more rain coming they could be evacuated again with no notice.  Along one section of the Guadalupe River, the water rose by half a foot every minute for an hour.  How does anybody prepare for 30 feet of water?  There are resorts and campgrounds all along the river.  It’s not good.  They’re still collecting people and counting.  It just came out of nowhere in the dark.
