Everything
takes a little longer, but that’s okay. That’s life in the tent!

walk along the Rio Grande at Salineno.
Last
night was comfortable. Tonight’s challenge will be some rain in the
forecast.
It’s
car camping!
Not
quite all the comforts of home. But everything we could fit in the back
of the Jeep!
Falcon
State Park. It wasn’t hard to find an open site.
We
have no neighbors.
The
hours of daylight are more winter than summer now. The sun set at
5:45. Tonight’s challenge is to stay awake long enough after dark that we
don’t have to wake up and get up before dawn!
Becky and Matt. When
they were little. Rough housing on the floor with them. Running to
meet me as I get home from work. Jumping into my arms so I can carry
them. Playing that game where I sit on the couch, wings spread, and if
they can charge and dive past me to touch the back of the couch they win.
Running. Giggling. Hugging.
We had that moment in time
every day for years. While it was happening, it seemed like it would go
on forever. Now it feels like it has been forever.
But
it’s not. It’s called a carpenter bee.
It’s
a pollinator, but not always. If the tubular flower it too deep, it can’t
get far enough in to get to the good stuff, so it will go to the base of the
bloom, chew a small hole in it and “rob” the nectar that way. It’s
“robbing”, because when it does that, it doesn’t do any pollination.
We
had to drive a little way to get to this one that had what we needed.

This
store is not normal.
It’s
immense!
It’s
like a cathedral!
Drizzling
rain. An overnight low of 44 degrees. Roaring to a high of 46.
It’s
official. We’ve become Seattle!
Judy
always makes homemade cranberries for Thanksgiving. She made extra and
gave some away last year. This year, she took requests.
The

Chilling
in the fridge.
(But
cheering for the Texas Longhorns is a lot more fun right now.)
