Port Aransas

I added the birding spots to the map link.

If you zoom in on Port Aransas, you can see on google earth all the cool places.

Port Aransas

This new RV Park has people in it.

And it’s nice.

But there aren’t many people out back where we are.

Got to visit Paradise Pond and the Birding Center today.

Picked up bird number 400, the Philadelphia vireo.  We made it to 400 species for the year.  Guess we’re done.

Then we got 401, willow flycatcher, and 402, yellow-bellied flycatcher.

We’re done.  Unless…

Our all-time record for species in a year is 407 in 2012.  It’s only September.  I wonder…

Texas RV Supply to Port Aransas

New transmission pump installed in the Chrysler, we head south.

A new RV Park in Port Aransas to try; coincidentally named Port A RV Park.  (It’s so new, it doesn’t even show up as RV sites yet on the google earth map.)  It’s right next door to the South Entrance to Charlie’s Pasture.

It’s an excellent trail.  You can zoom in on it and follow it on the map.  It’s mostly boardwalks across the shallows.

With a birding tower halfway out.

Made it just in time for an evening walk.

On the road again

I fixed the settings on the map link.

San Antonio KOA for the night.

Judy still has her cast on.  And still, I provide the eats!

Tomorrow morning, Texas RV Supply to get some work on the transmission pump in the tow car.

A day in the life

Of a red-tailed hawk.

Just circling.

Looking badass.

Until he gets discovered by a pair of kestrels.

He gets dive-bombed by them.

Until he gets away far away enough from their nest.

Only to get discovered by a coopers hawk that doesn’t want him in the neighborhood either.

Until only the cooper’s hawk remains.

Some days, it’s just not easy being badass.

If you’ve been needing a monk parakeet fix, here it is:
