Hummingbird feeders

They’re all hung with care.

The fall migration has begun.  Our best count/estimate is that there are seven at our feeders each morning while we have coffee.  Three buff-bellied.

And four ruby-throated.

The buff-bellied are residents; they’re here year -round.  The ruby-throated are the migrants.  Neither variety has any respect for our personal space.  Sitting and talking on our deck involves occasional ducking and dodging the little flying darts.  So far, no injuries for either them or us.

With any luck we’ll have in the neighborhood of thirty hummingbirds at a time during the peak.  Migration will last the entire month of September.
