ISIS

We get headlines and videos with beheadings.  ISIS overrunning villages; consolidating their evil empire.  Bloodthirsty mindless killers.  We have to change the channel every time a report comes on because they are so graphic.

Yet “Lone Wolves” are inspired to acts of terror in western countries in the name of ISIS.  Law enforcement agencies all over the world are engaged in preventing young people from traveling to the middle-east to join up with ISIS.

WTF?  I feel a disconnect.  The picture we see is pure evil, yet some young people are drawn to it, volunteering to join ISIS; people that aren’t being conquered and absorbed, but people going to great lengths, at great risk, to join on purpose.  Where does that come from?  Can we dismiss anyone who doesn’t agree with our understanding as delusional?  If we do that, what part of the picture are we missing?
