Did you know

…that rocks are really heavy?

We decided to pull out some plants that had overgrown their location and place a moss rock there instead.  We found some really good looking fake rocks that would work just fine, but fake rocks are really expensive.  Real rocks only cost a dime a pound.  We did some landscape rock shopping and found a real one with lichen on it.  It didn’t cost much, but it weighs 200 pounds!  They put it in the back of the minivan with a forklift.

We asked a young strong guy, Gabriel, who works around the park if he could get someone to help him relocate it from the back of our car to the front of our house.  A little while later he came over with another resident of our park and they put it where we wanted it in about two seconds.  I expected Gabriel to carry half the rock no problem.  What I didn’t expect is that the other guy helping him would be as old as me.  I just had a 70 year-old guy move something heavy for me!  Oh well.

We think it looks good where it is

… even though it doesn’t look like it weighs 200 pounds.

The first thing we did today though was have an enjoyable visit with a doctor if you can believe that.  I’m having no trouble at all with my heart and haven’t for several years now, but we don’t have a cardiologist in the Valley.  We’re a long way from our cardiologist in Boulder if we should happen to need one, so we made an introductory visit to one here we had heard about.  He saw us on-time in a nice office and was very good to talk to.  Did you know that they don’t have to go inside your body to check the function of your arteries now?  They can look inside my heart arteries without going in through my leg.  They check function all through the heart, measuring flow with ultrasound, and see indications for any disruption, so we went ahead and did that while we were there.  The doctor had a look and agrees that I’m a healthy guy, and that we shouldn’t change anything about our diet and exercise.

That was fun.
