The day of the wood stork

Wood storks are summer birds here.  We hadn’t seen one yet this year and if we don’t see one before we go north we might entirely miss them for the year.

So Saturday’s mission was to find some wood storks.  We found some in a pond in the Sandia area.

There were some black-bellied whistling ducks standing around in the trees as well.

We got more at Tule Lake and scored big time at Waterbird Lake.

Egrets, stilts, and spoonbills too.
